Crafts of Character

A sampling of products:

"I hope to influence people in positive ways with my work.  Printmaking and limited edition book-arts are very labour intensive but it is worth it when you know you've created something that someone can hold on to and cherish."

Bright, passionate colours held in skillful balance characterize Anita Singh's art.  She uses her training as a graphic artist to translate high-impact images from her printmaking –monotype, etching and collograph into limited edition books, cards and calendars.  Born in Guyana, South America to Russian and East Indian parents, Anita attributes her appetite for pattern and vivid colours, such as oranges, fuchsia, reds and any shade of green, to her multicultural background.  She finds satisfaction in developing images that have a positive feeling.  Most often, Anita draws her images and inspiration from the natural world: a cross section of a flower, honeycomb or the soft contours of an undulating mountain. She inquisitively pairs micro and macro views in her compositions.  Anita Singh's functional objects achieve sophisticated design without sacrificing intimacy.
